Archery season begins August 15. Archery hunts are primarily done in ground blinds sitting over water holes. You can usually expect shots of 15-30 yards. Later in the season we can also try decoying the big boy in during the rut.


Rifle season for Type 1 tags runs from September 25 to October 31. Rifle season for Type 2 tags runs October 5 to October 31. Rifle hunters can expect to see 100-300 antelope in a day. This is a spot and stalk style hunt. We use 4X4 trucks to spot and glass over the antelope, once a good one is located the stalk is on. You should be comfortable with shots of 50-300 yards. We suggest using a bipod or shooting sticks since wind is always a possibility.

We require all hunters booking an antelope hunt with Diamond Ranch Outfitters who don't have at least one preference point to apply for the special tag. The special tag offers nonresidents a higher chance of success in the draw. The Wyoming Game and Fish charges an extra $288 for the special tag.

The draw date in Wyoming is the last week of June. The application date is January 1 through May 31. All hunters must purchase a conservation stamp ($12.50) and archery hunters must also purchase an archery license ($72). Both of these can be purchased at the Wal-Mart in Laramie on your way to the ranch. All hunters born after January 1, 1966 must have a hunter safety card.
